The birth of a miracle

As soon as the phone rang at 2 a.m Monday night / Tuesday morning I knew it was she was coming. Miranda and I had only hours before discussed that this could happen at any moment. We thought she was coming Thursday, but last week Miranda went to the Dr. and she was dilating. Monday she had went back to Dr. and had dilated even more. Her water broke while she was asleep and now we were all frantically trying to get ready and go. We met at Los Amigos and took off. Her and Rusty went back while Daniel and I anxiously waited in the appropriately titled waiting room. Carol showed up and went back to be with them. She came back out to tell us they were taking the baby at 5:30. Daniel decided that he was going to go ahead and go to work because he had a big project to get out by 12 on Tuesday. So he left and I went back with Carol to see Miranda. The contractions had now started and she looked sooooo scarred. I didn't realize that even after your water initially breaks it keeps leaking. Not a pretty sight. Martha showed up and joined us. The nurses kept messing up her iv and it took forever for them to get it straight. They explained everything that was going to happen. Very scary stuff. I was running back and forth to their car bringing in stuff, and when I returned from one of those outings everyone was gone. I asked the nurses where she went and they said the 6th floor. The 6th floor is a LARGE floor by the way. After wandering around for awhile I finally found a nurse. She told me they were were probably in labor and delivery and tried to explain to me where that was. Did I mention the 6th floor is very LARGE and very maze like? After getting lost yet again I found another nurse who actually took me to the L & D. Carol whisked me away to see Miranda one last time before delivery. She was really in pain now. I mean she looked miserable. So it was time. Everything had went pretty quick up until then. Waiting for her to get out seemed like forever though. I happened to be on the phone with Daniel when Rusty came out with her, I hung up on him. She was beautiful. The most perfect thing I had ever seen, and oh so tiny. I've never seen a baby that small. Just adorable. Rusty had to go to the nursery with her and we all started calling the world. Then we got to go stand at the nursery and watch her. She was truly amazing. Daniel came by to see her for awhile then we went to get breakfast and he went back to work. I went back to the nursery. By the time I returned Miranda was in recovery. I went back to see her. She said that the iv hurt more than anything else did and said it was easy. She was sooo happy. She only got to hold her a minute and they whisked her away. She really wanted to see her again. I showed her the pics I had already taken. Then it was time for her to rest. They wouldn't let her see the baby or leave recovery until she could wiggle her toes. Turns out this was going to take awhile. Carol left for awhile and me and Martha waited. While we waited we watched Addison get her first bath. 3 and a half hours after she was born Miranda finally got put in a room and got to see Addison. It was really absurd to see her holding her baby. It was just weird to think, she's a Mom now....that's her daughter. Breast feeding went as well as could be expected. Then Martha finally got to hold her and then me. It was like holding a pillow. She is so tiny. I have never been so amazed by anything. I just wanted to stare at her forever and give her a billion kisses. Daniel finally got off work and came to see her. He looks really good holding a baby. Very natural. After a very long night we went home to sleep. I can't wait to see her again. I will definitely be going back today. Addison is a true blessing and gift from God. I thank Him that everything went so perfectly well. Congratulations guys, you deserve her.

Baby Shower

Last weekend was Miranda's baby shower at my house. I never knew throwing a shower could b so stressful, but it was all worth it in the end. Miranda had a wonderful time. My gift to her was a movie. She had more ultrasounds than your average mother, I think at one time she was having like two a month. Needless to say there were a lot of pictures. So I took them and added music and words. It took longer than I thought, but again, well worth it. You can't watch and not cry. Addison is beautiful. All in all it went very nice. This kid racked up on the gifts. I couldn't believe how much stuff she got. She is going to be sooo spoiled and I'm sure Auntie Heather won't be contributing to that....lol. Addison is now coming in about 2 1/2 weeks. They are probably going to take her at 36 weeks. August 8th Miranda goes for amnieo to see if Addison's lungs are developed enough to take her, but the Dr. seems sure it will be, which means they would take her the next day. I can't believe it's already here. It just doesn't seem like that long ago she was still trying. I can't wait. I'm ready to hold, and love my niece. I'll be honest here, it could be awhile before I write again. But I'll probably write about Addison after she gets here!

A Killer Concet

I FINALLY after 2 LONG years got to see The Killers live in concert at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. OMG. First off, the Fox is a beautiful theatre. Breath taking actually. We got there a little early unfortunately though. I thought the doors opened at 5, so I got there at 4 to get good parking. Doors opened at 7. We had to sit in the car FOREVER! But we walked around the Fox some and got to see The Killers' tour buses. We also got to see the opening act walking around taking pics. It was their first trip to America. The opening act was the Silver Beats, a Beatles tribute band. Now I thought that they might be horrible, considering they're from Tokyo. Turns out, they rock. They didn't really look like the Beatles, except for the guy impersonating John. He looked, and talked just like John Lennon. And when they sang....it was like being at a Beatles concert. Awesome! Big props to the Silver Beats. The problem I saw though was the teenie boppers in the audience didn't know any of the words to the Beatle's songs. Such a disgrace. I mean the people beside me didn't even so much as tap their feet along. Disgusting. Then it was time for my boys. My face honestly hurt from smiling so much. It was indescribable how awesomely wonderful that concert was. I was screaming the songs from the top of my lungs and still couldn't hear myself. It was so loud, my clothes were vibrating from the bass. It was like the music was inside my body, it was the most friggin awesome concert in the history of all concerts. Even Daniel got his groove on...so don't let him fool you...he was singing right along with me. He bought me some Killer pins, and I bought a boot leg t-shirt after the show...lol. WEll it was only $10 and the ones on the inside were $35. What can I say, I'm a cheap ass. None of my pics came out that I took (props to the girl from TKN who took the pic I used at the top). Apparently film expires after 3 years. Nobody told me. But, thanks to the internet plenty of other people took really nice pictures and videos. Like this lovely video on YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyN1W3NYJ0Q
That was the start of the concert...awesome. So before this song started playing there was this big screen draped across the stage. It showed weird videos of like the desert, and The Killers as like shadows and stuff. They were playing this like weird version of Sam's Town...it was basically this HUUUUge build up. Then boom! Curtain raises, confetti shoots, and Sam's Town is blasted (as you can see on the tape). Brandon danced like Elvis...lol. Then Enterlude and When You Were Young. So Brandon then says "I got a feeling. It's not in my skin, it's not in my blood...it's in my boooones." lol Of course Bones was the next song. Then he tells us, "I'm gonna light you up." And he did. The lights were so bright I could see the stage with my eyes closed. They played Somebody Told Me after that. Next up was Smile Like You Mean It, one of my favs from Hot Fuss. Then, Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, followed by Uncle Jonny. Now everyone knows how I feel about that song, but in concert, it was awesome. I've now decided that I love this song...lol. Read My Mind was next and then This River Is Wild, which I was blown away by his vocals on that one and of course let's not forget, he shakes a little....lol. Only Daniel will get that. Then they did On Top...which my mind always goes into the gutter with that one, and when he said shimmy and a shake, he did, which was great!! Bling was next, and was awesome. Even more so than on the album. There's just something about when he sings, "higher and higher, we're gonna make it." Loved it. And then Andy. I was shocked they actually did Andy, it's not usually on their set list, but hey, I'm not complaining. Then Mr. Brightside, Daniel missed this song because he was hot and thought he was going to pass out so he stepped outside. I would've just had to have collapsed right there because I wasn't about to miss one second of the concert. So after MB they leave....I was like..."Ummm....I know that isn't all" It wasn't. They came back and played My List, my fav, and they changed the ending. They added in some more lyrics, which made me love it even more. Then they played a song I didn't know (I was shocked too). It was Shadowplay, a remake of JoyDivision's version. I knew it existed, but I hadn't gotten to hear it yet. It was very Hot Fuss Killers, so of course I loved it, plus Brandon vibrated all weird which was hilarious. Next was For Reasons Unknown.."There was an open chair..." lol. Then they played All These Things. It was such a concert moment. When Brandon got to the part where he's supposed to sing, "I got soul, but I'm not a soldier," he just stuck the mike out. The crowd must've sang that line 40 times before he finally sang it. It was incredible. Then they played Exitlude, which I figured was the end, and BAM! They broke into the second half of When You Were Young, except it was waaaay more rocky. That was it. Best concert of my life. The people were kind of annoying. I would say the crowd was about half teenie bopper, half my age and up. The teens were the annoying part. First you had the retarded couple beside us, who not once during the entire concert opened their mouths to sing, didn't so much as sway to the music, just stood there looking like 2 very out of place Bob Jones students. Then there were the pot heads in front of us. Dude, have more respect for yourself, the people around you, the band you are there to see who do not use drugs, and the 100 year old building your flipping your ashes in!! Pot stinks...no literally, it stinks. But Daniel did inform me that I had a contact high, not that I appreciated it. I'm quite pissed that I got high against my will. Anyways. Oh! And the pot head in front of me was like 6'5" at least and he decided to keep his hands in the air the ENTIRE concert, thus making him like 7 feet tall. I just wanted to grab his arms and push them down. Grow up people. There was also this old dude, I mean old, like 60, dancing down the aisle. That was great!!! And when did the tube top come back in style. EVERY SINGLE teen girl there had one on. Did they think Brandon would see them and not be able to resist? Give me a break. Put some clothes on. Anyways, other than being annoyed at teenagers I had a wonderful time. Hopefully they'll be back, and I will most certainly be there.

A Killer Year

Ok I know it's been awhile, and tons of stuff has happened. Apparently I only come here when something Killer related has happened. Pathetic I know. First things first, MIRANDA IS KNOCKED UP! So waaaay back in December she went and had her surgery, which I believe I spoke of back when it happened. Before surgery she and Rusty had a last tryst before she went under the knife. So she has the surgery, they flush out her tubes mind you, and they give her pain meds. Fast forward some, it's New Year's and they're at my house, we go to toast the new year and Miranda decides she doesn't like Arbor Mist anymore and only takes a sip. Fast forward some more. Miranda is LATE, but considering she just had surgery, she isn't concerned. She goes to the Dr. and they decide the next step is injections, so she goes to a class to learn how to give herself the injections. While there she mentions to the nurse that she hasn't started yet, because she can't do the injections until after the period. so the nurse tells her to just take a home pregnancy test just in case and when it comes back negative they'll give her some pills to make her start. It wasn't negative. She called me at 5:30am and said "Heather, I'm pregnant." My response..."Wha..." lol This child is the miracle child. Miranda is now 22 weeks. We have gotten to see Addison Claire about a hundred times now...lol. We already love her bunches. On a sadder note another friend of ours is pregnant with twins, she is 26 weeks, and one of the babies is going to die. It has 3 chromosomes in each cell, and apparently you can't live with 3 chromosomes. I don't quite understand it, but all I do know is that their family needs lots and lots of prayer. The mother is actually in the hospital right now, which is where she will be until the babies are born. Her blood pressure is too high, and they're trying to keep the babies in as long as they can, but they may have to take them soon. It's very sad, and my heart and prayers go out to them. Then on to an even sadder note for me. They put Nan in a nursing home...in COLUMBIA!! I hate the whole situation. Every time I go down there I cry. I miss her so much. What else has happened this year...oh! Had to pay a ton of money to Enterprise Rent a Car for a 2 inch almost invisible scratch. Still makes me irate!!! Anyways....The one glorious thing for me this year (other than Addison of course)was April 22. To be continued...

The Holydays are here again. Thanksgiving has come and gone. Miranda's new name is Pegasus and I still work for the church.

So much to talk about. Miranda found out she has half a uterus, which they call a unicornuate. Hence, her X Man name is Pegasus. She's actually having surgery tomorrow to see if there is any abnormal growth where the other half of her uterus should be, as well as, to laser out any endometriosis that might be in there. Thanksgiving went by...FAST. It was nice. The actual day of we didn't celebrate because my Dad had to work. Daniel and I put up the Christmas decorations instead. That Saturday we had a big dinner at our house with my parents and Nanny. Then we went to my parents and decorated their house. Oh! And the week of Thanksgiving I had to help Miranda decorate her houise as well. I should start charging people. Anyways, we also got all our Christmas shopping done on Black Friday. I was very proud of Daniel. He didn't lose it not one time. I was the one screaming at the traffic this year. We got a new car. First of all, we hated that PT. Second of all, the transmission was about to go, and finally the gas milage was about to run me to the poor house. We got a BRAND NEW Mittsubishi Lancer. It was the demo so it was a bit cheaper, only had 1,500 miles on it. It gets incredible gas milegae and I LOVE IT! Well that all for now. I'm sure it'll be awhile before I return. The Holydays are here, and things tend to get crazy time of year.

Silly Me

Sometimes I forget I have a blog.

I Saw Hot Fuss....I See Sam's Town

Sorry I haven't written It's been a crazy month. Miranda's not pregnant...turns out she may be a mutant like me. We've decided we need to come up with cool X Men names..lol. I'm also speaking to Lea again. It's nice to talk with her...I missed her. And that baby! Oh I love her so much! A big highlight of the month was Sam's Town was finally released. The wait was worth it I might add. Brandon had said that this was the best album to be released in the past 20 years...can't say that that is true, but it comes close. Here is my first official album review, track by track.

1. Sam's Town - The albums title track. The first time I heard this song I knew I loved it. Very eighties...good beat. The boys all come together for the bridge.."I see London, I see Sam's Town. Holds my hand, and let's my hair down." By the way, if you look up the lyrics on line, don't be fooled...they're wrong...Apparently all the sites have these songs that are laden with cuss words and dirty innuendos. There's only one cuss word on the whole album in reality. Not sure what's up with that. Anyway...this song was written in honor of their hometown...Las Vegas, and it makes me want to go for a visit.

2. Enterlude - Brandon said he dreamed the tune of this song. I wish my dreams were that creative. Enterlude is short, and sweet. Just Brandon and the piano.

3. When You Were Young - First single to be released off the album. When this song came out it was the first new material I had heard in months, and so naturally it became my summer anthem. Some compared this song to Bruce Springsteen. I personally think it sounds a little more like The Cars, with Springsteen like lyrics.

4. Bling (Confessions of a King)- I didn't like this song originally. It grew on me though, and has oddly enough become one of my favorites. Again, the bridge on this song is amazing. Brandon's vocals literally go higher and higher as he sings, "Higher and higher we're gonna make it out of the fire. Higher and higher.."

5. For Reasons Unknown - Great guitar rift. They wrote this song with Louis the VII, and they actually sung back up for it. I love the lyric..."But my heart it don't beat, it don't beat the way it use to."

6. Read My Mind - Daniel loves this song..lol. Brandon's vocals are kinda all over the place on this song, and yet he still manages to pull it off. It has some odd lyrics. "A subtle kiss that no one sees. A broken wrist and a big trapieze." They even manage to squeeze in a line about a trampoline. It has a Breakfast Club feel to it. At least I always think of that movie when I hear it.

7. Uncle Jonny - My least favorite song. Actually it's the only song on the album that I could do without. It's repetitive, to the point of annoyance, and I think the lyrics aren't that great. "While everybody else refrained, my Uncle Jonny did cocaine." One good line however, "My appetite ain't got no heart."

8. Bones - This will be the second single released. The cool thing about this song is that they got Tim Burton to direct the video. This will be his first music video ever. Must be a fan. It's the campiest song on the album. (Is campiest a word?) Makes me want to do jazz hands...lol.

9. My List - My favorite. Brandon wrote this song for his wife...wish someone would write me a song like this. If she is a beard then he's a pretty good actor. This is a love song in it's purest form. It starts slow, then builds to a an anthem like chorus. Very U2.

10. This River Is Wild - Not sure what to say about this song. I could take it or leave it. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they wrote it, but I get a end of the world kind of feel from it. "You better run for the hills before they burn, listen to the sound of the world and watch it turn." Maybe it's just me.

11. Why Do I Keep Counting - Brandon wrote this song about his fear of flying. There's desperation in the chorus, "Help me get down, I can't make it. If I only knew the answer I wouldn't be bothering you. Father, help me get down" The song is basically about praying to God and making promises to Him if He gets Brandon out alive.

12. Exitlude - Is that a real word? This song reprises Enterlude lyrics and adds some to it. Unlike Enterlude, this song includes all the boys singing and playing. The end of it sorta reminds me of Srgt. Pepper.

That's what I think of the album, mostly. I tried not to dote so much. Technically I could go on for hours about how much I love this album...lol. That's all for now.

Happy Birthday to me!

So yesterday was my day of birth. I had a pretty good weekend. Friday I got a cake from Miranda's mom....red velvet...all home made...mmmm. It was excellent. Then Saturday we all went to the fair. What happened to the fair? It cost $5 to get in...$3 to park. Now we're up to $13...well all I really wanted was a funnel cake so that was another $4 for a tiny piece of burnt crap. I prefer my funnel cake to be crispy on the outside, doughy in the middle...not crunchy all the way through! Anyways...then of course we had to have a drink, yet another $4 for a small, watered down, no fizz left, coke. Up to $21 now. I didn't want to ride any rides, and thank God. $3-$5. Yea...ummm...no. I did want to play mine and Daniel's favorite game though...darts. I can remember us playing darts 20 times in the past...not anymore. $5 for 3 darts. $5 FOR 3 DARTS!! What's wrong with these people? The only thing we did was look at the animals...which of course made me sad. So we spent $21 to look at some sickly animals and be sad, eat a crappy burnt funnel cake, and drink a nasty coke. And why didn't I get a white people memo telling me that the fair is only for Hispanics now? I think there was the 4 of us and 2 other white people there going...did we just cross the border? Let's see, yesterday was really good. It was the actual day of birth. Rusty and Miranda took us to dinner then we went to Marble Slab...mmmm. All in all it was a good weekend. Oh, and Miranda had a fertility "procedure" done yesterday morning. Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll be rejoicing that I'm going to be an aunt. I hope it worked...I pray it worked. Oh well, I think that's all I have to say today.
